We work in partnership. This means that we both work with you prenatally to prepare for birth — emotionally, physically, mentally — and we rotate our on-call calendar so that one of us attends your birth.
Our origin story:
We met in a doula collective several years ago, immediately clicked as friends, and then realized that we live three blocks away from each other. After a couple of coffee dates and many birth talks, it became clear that we have similar perspectives and philosophies on birth. And a partnership was born!
Our birth philosophy:
There is no wrong way to give birth. As doulas, we have no hidden agenda as far as what choices you should make. Our priority is ensuring that you feel safe, informed, and authentically you —prenatally, during labor, and postpartum— so that you can experience all the parts of pregnancy and birth that are important to you. We lead with warmth, compassion, evidence-based information, and humor (there's a lot of stuff to laugh at and marvel at in this wild process!). We practice non-judgment as a rule; your birth is yours, and we are there — by your side — to support you.

Sasha
My background is firmly rooted in theatre and performance: I moved to New York for acting school and have acted professionally for many years. Growing up, I never had any interest in knowing much about childbirth; it scared me, and frankly kind of grossed me out!
However, something shifted for me during the birth of my first child. A complicated pregnancy and birth was made joyful and empowering by my own incredible birth doula and I instantly felt called to stay in the birthing space in some form. Having given birth twice now, I continue to feel a deep desire to support all births, and to advocate for others in the same way as had been done for me.
I am steadfast in my belief that all birthing and postpartum people deserve non-judgmental, unwavering support, and treat each unique experience with compassion, respect, and humor. I love making your birth feel like the most exciting slumber party of your life.

I have always been innately drawn to the birth space. According to my family lore, when I was four years old and my younger brother was born, I arrived at the hospital with my plastic doctor's kit, assuming I would be helping with the delivery. I followed the doctor track for many years, attending Yale University as a pre-med biology major, spending my summers shadowing OBs and midwives, and assisting with vaginal and Cesarean births alike. Along the way, my eyes were opened to the role of a doula, and I found clarity: birth doula is the role for me. Nowhere else could I find a role that entailed such whole-body, whole-spirit, whole-person support.
Birth is a singular intersection of remarkable and quotidian, of physical and emotional, of intuition and mystery, and it is a singular and special privilege to help support our clients and their partners through the birth experience.
